OLDER TOGETHER

OLDER TOGETHER

by Jonathan Caswell

It is not good to be alone

When living a long time…

As youthful lusts and living “large”

Recede without much rhyme.

-

To share a life unglamorous

Away from spotlight glow,

Depends less on the roar of crowds…

Than the one you closely know.

-

It’s not the limelight party life,

But bathrooming and spit

Shared with a husband or a wife…

That softens tongue with grit.

-

One never can learn truer love

Nor in full grace abide,

Until one labors on with love…

Viewing the underside.

-

Not many struggle for a lark

Or covenant a one night stand,

The selfish ones will always run…

And abandon Love’s command!
