TIT FOR TAT—HOW ABOUT THAT?
My wife and I—married for years,
Have shared many joys and tears,,,
But house chores are done
By either one,
Whomever the spirit steers.
-
We both expected I guess,
The other to cleanup the mess…
Things didn’t get done
And life was no fun,
As chore pile-up intensified stress.
-
After twenty three years flat,
She discovered of me that…
Women did dishes
In my house, auspicious,
I had struggled so long with that stat.
-
After being forced so long
To do it all ’cause she wasn’t “strong”…
We discovered that
Doing things tit-for-tat,
Helped us get along.
-
Now we communicate better,
Not assuming we know the letter…
Or thought of our mate
But appreciate,
They’re acting the go-getter.
-
My wife now does the dishes
When she can, being less suspicious…
Of her husband’s role
Being under control,
Of a Spirit where good works are conspicuous.
-
Being honored as a man
Is better than…
Feeling manipulated
By assumptions dated,
From before we agreed to a common plan.
-
I’m sure that my wife feels securer.
‘Cause her husband has been found an endurer…
Willing to stay put
When hard times a-foot,
And growing in God is surer.
