PICTURE IN A DOOR WINDOW…!
On my walks I pass a door
With window enclosed…
Someone has a picture of a head
Behind the glass posed.
-
This disembodied head looks out
Like a grave picture under glass*…
He stares in a cryptic way
At all who thereby pass.
-
His “caption” from a Chinese snack,
A fortune cookie, if you will…
Says,”if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,”
Must give someone a thrill.

***NOTE: Grave pictures…a picture of the deceased preserved under glass, or very thin sheets of mica, affixed to the gravestone, were practiced around the turn of the Nineteenth Century when photography itself became commercially available to the masses. (Author’s knowledge)
