THE 2ND SHIFT SHIMMY
Our relief has yet to arrive
We’re sleepy and barely alive,
The 2nd shift blues
Is really old news
As long as the third shift arrives.
Each weeknight is almost a gimme
To dance out the 2nd shift shimmy,
If a blackout occurs
The boss prefers
We call upon Richard or Jimmy.
From rush hour to late at night
We monitor this plant in spite
Of balking cam’ras
That are cranky because
They need to be maintained just right.
The 2nd shift shimmy’s ‘bout over,
I see the headlights of his ‘Rover…
No coffee for me,
I’ll be up past three
Or until there’s sunlight on the clover!
