SEASONAL SIGNS ON THE POND

SEASONAL SIGNS ON THE POND

The water froze late this year,

Most geese said. “WE’RE OUTTA HERE!”…

The fountain’s shut down,

Fowl moving through town

Don’t want to spend winter here.

As pond water starts to freeze

The geese leave for another’s lees…

Leaving one or two

That injured, not flew

A bird feeder helps with their needs.

The turtles now buried in mud…

Their metabolism slows down, Bud,

And fishes in swamp

Will stay where it’s damp

To remain till the trees above bud.

More ducks and critters arrive

Moving on to stay alive…

The visitors rare

In sub-zero air,

But when things warm up it’ll thrive.
