Oregon comes from the French word “ouragan”
This means storm or hurricane.
They should have used~~ “fantome”
This means ghost, for they still remain!

The deepest lake in the United States
Is called the Crater Lake.
And Oregon has more official ghost
Towns than any other state!

The Tillamook Rock Lighthouse built in 1880
The resting place for over 467,000 cremations.
And there is the Heceta Lighthouse, the most
Photographed lighthouse in the nation.

In Bickelton every house has a bluebird
House just to hear them sing.
Most appropriate with the state’s motto
“She flies with her own wings.”

Residents are called~~ Oregonians
The state is nicknamed~~ The Beaver State.
The official nut is the~~ Hazelnut
And the state flower is the~~ Oregon grape.

The state animal is the beaver
The western meadowlark is the bird.
The insect is the swallowtail
And the Douglas fir is the tree preferred.

Silver Falls State Park features ten
Waterfalls, hiking trails and creeks.
And Hell’s Canyon is the deepest river gorge
In North America it drops about 8,000 feet.

Pilot Butte, a cinder cone volcano exits
Within the city limits of Bend.
The Oregon Trail is the longest overland
Westward expansion the settlers did transcend.

Mills Ends Park in Portland is the world’s
Smallest Official Park measuring two feet!
Created in 1948 for the leprechauns to hold
Snail races on St. Patrick’s Day~~ this is a treat!

Now at the end it’s time for famous names again
We have Chief Joseph and Edwin Markham.
Sally Struthers and Doc Severinsen
William E. Stafford and Dave Kingman.
