I write my own obit ~ by rldubour

I write my own obit

I take death too heavy… I must
learn to lighten up a bit
Since it’s Sunday morning… I thought?
I would write my own obit!

I’m sure this has been done before
by more clever men than I
In describing how their life was,
just before they died.

There is one problem as I sit
and contemplate to write.
What if I live a long time now?
Then nothing will be right!

Well since I’m superstitious
Not going to put a date.
And what about all my tomorrows,
how do I calculate?

Now I have a million questions
can’t answer not a one.
Maybe I should leave this write
until my day is really done.

Someone else will have to finish
and write what they have seen.
I wonder how well they will do and
will they miss the in-between?

I started this with good intentions
but now I’ve come to see.
It does not matter what I did,
or even come to be.

The only thing that matters now
Is the day that I do leave.
How will people say my name?
How will I be perceived?

  1. Really excellent attempt at an unpopular topic!

  2. You made a number of good points there. I did a search on the issue and found mainly folks will agree with your blog.

  3. Thank you for another magnificent article. Where else could anyone get that kind of information in such a perfect way of writing? I’ve a presentation next week, and I am on the look for such information.

  4. I really appreciate this post. I have been looking everywhere for this! Thank goodness I found it on Bing. You’ve made my day! Thank you again

  5. I’d must verify with you here. Which isn’t one thing I often do! I get pleasure from studying a put up that may make people think. Additionally, thanks for allowing me to remark!

  6. Me gustó mucho leer tu blog …. Gracias por tomarse el tiempo para escribir!

  7. My sisiter and I were just discussing this same topic a few weeks ago…..
