SICK DAY BLUES

SICK DAY BLUES

Had to leave work last night

Because of not feeling right…

He mixed certain meds,

Tore him to shreds,

His tooth phantom pain—out of sight!

Had two teeth pulled out that day

And went to work right away…

He didn’t estimate

The shock to his state,

Or how he would be belayed.

First weakness and then shakey pain,

Both standing and sitting the same…

Someone came  in

To cover for him,

A favor the other can claim.

Called in the next day, still weak,

Hoping his recov’ry to pique…

He’s not doing much

But getting in touch

To finish out his work week.
