MAGICAL BANANA

THE MAGIC BANANA

by Jonathan Caswell

Does THIS SORT OF TITLE jog

Desires to go “whole hog”…

        That kind of message

        That is suggestive

Belongs to another blog!

This “magical” disappearing

Was told in  family hearing…

        A simple tale

        How viewpoints prevail

Until they reach a clearing.

One visit to Dad by us kids,

One half a banana he’d miss…

        My brother’s wife

        Would “save its life”

His evening half was this.

Mystified each day it appeared,

One half a banana she cleared…

        She refused to waste

        The half she would taste,

But the morning reappearance was weird!

The solution…one half ate by Dad

In the morning and evening…not bad,

        One half at a time

        Kept potassium levels fine,

Which the daughter-in-law misunderstood, just a tad.

The moral is plain, you’d agree,

Appearing half-bananas may be…

        A diabetic’s trick

        To avoid getting sick,

Observe that banana and you’ll see!

  4. Mmm, half a banana’s better than half the marbles. 😉

    • But if one -half keeps going missing…? 🙂

      • Hmm, will turn up or maybe a turnip. As long as it’s not the sense of humor that’s lost…

      • Sigh…we’ll try, then! 🙂
