MY WELCOME AT HOME
The cat is listening for the car,
My wife has told me so…
And when I come in the doorway at night
He sashays toward me slow.
–
The first thing he wants is his dish refilled
With something that he’d like to eat…
Then he gets in the way as I take off my shoes,
As he purrs to his own beat.
–
I gently raise him up to my chest
And the purrs grow louder still…
He squinches his eyes to show his is pleased,
All part of his welcoming drill.
