TOO NEAR THE ABYSS


TOO NEAR THE ABYSS

 

All at once his wish was granted,

But realized his view was slanted…

      Fought for life,

      Tossed away the knife

And sat sweating as he panted.

Years and years he’d planned this day,

Waiting for the devil’s play…

      Thinking life wasn’t worth

      Suffering and lack of mirth,

But that’s not what his mother would say….
