AUGUST FIRST
August’s warm humidity
And cicadas’ chirping from a tree…
Dusk’s coolness
Our bodies bless
While a flag flutters softly in the breeze.
–
A small bunny scampers along,
List’ning to cicada song…
Finding succulant things to munch,
Loving life (just a hunch)
‘Til carefree summer days are gone.
–
Geese fly overhead in flocks,
“V”-shaped animal voting blocks…
Heading for a quiet pond
With their kin to rest upon,
Wings are down with applied wheel chocks.
