SHAKY

SHAKY

In his fifties my Dad got the shakes

But he still held a wrench to fix brakes…

Now I have them too

And nothing  I can do,

But can see what reading “me” takes!

My handwriting always was worse,

And the reading it by others…adverse…

My handwritten phrases

In rough draft amazes

Those who wonder how i read my own verse.

But the age of Computer is here

And legibility is clear…

If the font were just larger

I’d be placed on a charger*

And proclaimed Poet of the Year!**

—Jonathan Caswell

NOTES:  *charger = a beautiful strong horse;  **Yeah, right!
