LATE SUMMER CHORES

LATE SUMMER CHORES

Landscapers are having a spree,

At our place and work, you see…

What flowers to save

‘Til the first cold wave,

In case it comes early.

Before that cold wave comes,

Many people put in hardy mums…

Ornamental heads

To fill emptied beds,

As the crescendo of nature’s year hums.

I stroked my ego today,

For all these landscapers in play…

Replaced one man (me)

With humility,

My back won’t let me, anyway.
