GRIEVING POET
The grieving poet was sad,
His news sounded so bad…
He lost a venue
To distribute through,
To many fine fans that he had.
–
He misunderstood his boss,
And thus suffered this loss…
To be in his shoes
This job he can’t lose,
Fighting back just ain’t* worth the cost.
–
He’s stopped just as requested
Ending things as suggested…
One or two know
His list had to go,
Inconvenience that won’t be contested.

I feel like there’s a subtext here that I am too tired or stupid to get. Are you referring to you or someone as yet unnamed?
