Seems to be a habit,

Sometimes something I’ll lose…

Looking all the usual places

Not finding,  pumps up my blues.

I usually check my pockets

Before I take off shirts…

Day-by-day and week-by-week

Usually I am alert.

Somewhere I loused up big time

Losing my Versa-bank* card…

Searched through the work bag,

All my swag and even cleaned out the car!

The old girl came to my rescue—

We’re only three years apart…

More to the point when I’m out of joint,

She finds ways to win my heart.

She FOUND it in a shirt pocket

From a workday a month ago…

She felt something stiff and caught it,

Before it was scrambled so!

My woman she’s the best ever,

Without her I’d be in a fix…

Not knowing where my things are

Between or betwixt.

***NOTE: “Versa-bank” is a fictional company
