A night in the life of a working stiff—or used to be!—Jonathan Caswell, Author/Poet

By the Mighty Mumford

THE SHERIFF

Walks down empty hallways,

Echoing from his feet….

Spies a final door to check if locked

And his round’s complete.

A ghost town it seems to be,

With nary a jack rabbit…

Stubs his toe on machinery

And lets out a “dag-nabbit!”

Meets a few folks working late

In a corner of the plant….

Talks about last night’s football game,

Going outside to rant.

Comes back to the desk to find

His partner’s asleep…

Sure wish we had cameras

To catch the lazy creep!

–Jonathan Caswell

(P.S.–This story can’t happen now…we DO HAVE A CAMERA OVER OUR DESK!)
