Christmas Rose~by rldubour

Christmas Rose

When the snow is deep and the wind is cold.
When most nature sleeps except the Christmas rose.
The Christmas rose blooms but one night a year.
Sending a message for the whole world to hear.
Few people have seen this Christmas rose.
And the meaning it sends few people knows.
It shows that the beauty can always be found.
In each living creature as you look around.
It tells of the story written long, long ago.
This beautiful flower, this Christmas rose.
The story of giving your heart and your soul.
To honor and love forever to hold.
To cherish it all and give all in return.
The meanings of life as we all have to learn.
To have faith and trust in those that you love.
And every second that passes you’re thinking of.
To give but your lives always showing you care.
To make everyday an adventure to share.
This gift I will give you and want you to know.
That my heart holds the meaning of the Christmas rose.

  1. Man have you been busy! Excellent poem—-is that a picture of a real Christmas rose?

    • yes it is a real pic of what they call the Christmas Rose,
Despite names such as “Christmas rose” and “Lenten rose”, hellebores are not closely related to the rose family (Rosaceae).
