Monday! time for Destination America, in alpha order today we visit the great state of:




The motto is, “State sovereignty, national union.”
And the people here are called, “Illinoisans.”
This state’s name came from this word “ILLINI”
From tribes of the Native Americans.

The Sears Tower is the tallest building
On the continent and that is not a mystery.
At 8′ 11.1″ tall and shoe size at 37!
Robert Wadlow is the tallest man in history!

The square dance is the state’s dance
Twirl your gal and don’t you miss!
And Metropolis is a real city, so does
Supermen really exist?

With over 345 billion cookies sold
This is just one line, Nabisco’s Oreo!
And in Spring Grove to store their grain
They constructed the First round silo.

Chicago has the world’s largest public
Library, with over 2 million books.
Kaskaskia and then Vandalia were the
Capitals before Springfield had a look.

In Mt. Pulaski it’s illegal for boys
To hurl snowballs at trees.
And for all the girls, don’t worry
Every young lady has been reprieved.

The state’s flower is the violet
The white oak is the tree
The animal is the white-tail deer
The cardinal is the official bird I see.

The state’s slogan is “Land of Lincoln”
And Illinois means “Tribe of superior men.”
Chicago it the third largest city in the nation
The only drive through Post Office, at 433 Van Buren!
