AT THE RIVERS EDGE~by Heather Burns

AT THE RIVERS EDGE

Through the ages
looking
searching
so many faces
unfamaliar

then standing
at the rivers
edge
I caught a
glimpse of the
face forever
haunting my
dreams

lying in wait
unclaimed
a face more
dainty than a
doll
so defined

reaching across
the expanse
of time
extending my
hand to touch

the skies suddenly
darkened
elements wept
promises written
with tears remain
