‘I Wish’
I wish I could sail on a boat,
To Rathlin’s sea swept shores
Where soft winds beat upon my heart,
And steals my soul away
I wish I could sit where you are,
And ponder our days
As birds wheel and cry,
A lament for you
I wish I could wander the drifting sands
And feel the vanishing tides
To turn at my command,
And take me to you
I wish I could dream our dreams,
And anchor my soul in yours
To lay down my heart,
And be with you
