MY PEARL, MY PEARL, OH MY PRECIOUS PEARL~by Bernard Owor

MY PEARL, MY PEARL, OH MY PRECIOUS PEARL

Poetry my heart my soul my treasured pearl
Has been twisted and turned to a hideous gnarl
By fate devious ploys with its manipulative snarl
Making it worthless, oh my precious pearl

In melancholies pool my emotions whirl
Through the depths of despair I mentally swirl
Like a painful heartbreak of a boy by a girl
In anguish I weep, oh my precious pearl

Success has become an impenetrable hull
Plunging my life to an existence so dull
My efforts and works rendered void and null
My spirit is broken, oh my precious pearl

Am weak and defenseless to blows that life hurl
My suffering has grown into a permanent burl
Am left to wither and fold to a lifeless furl
Am lost and forsaken, oh my precious pearl
