THE RAIN~by Rajendra Padhi

The fleeting steps of a woman
Quick on city pavements,
With sparkling silvery eyes
In wild passion of downpour
Comes from land strange and far.

Lashing in music pitter-patter
Splashing on frogs in long refrains,
Joins the sparrow dancing sprightly
Shimmers with swallow in wings
Kisses the lady-bug silkily shining
Brings frivolity and fun in first touch.

The smell, sight and touch flows
From shadowy hills to city streets,
Encircles world in whistling wind
Laughs in thunder, shine in lightening
Holds me in her breast in passion wild.

My heart hops and runs in subtle ways
to look her in river’s bulging tides,
A moment of blank joy sails me away
Cooling pain of sweaty –summer days,
It wakes up my lonely days forgotten
Holds me at night in memory sweet.
