Be not alone~by Lilian Dipasupil Kunimasa

Be not alone

what is life without joy and pain
to avoid risks what will we gain
though recluse, friendship need not wane
no need to dance, just clap, be sane
let’s walk together on the lane

life may ask us to sacrifice
when pouring rain will not suffice
for a raging soul’s avarice
a greed surpassing gambler’s vice
a selfish world’s saving device

let not them our giving abuse
soon we may just run out of fuse
if generous love they will use
and be tortured for their amuse
it is wiser to stop their ruse

social life entails risk that’s plain
being alone can be one’s bane
such life would be living in vain
we can follow a sage’s advice
who to befriend, one must choose wise

what is life without joy and pain
to avoid risks what will we gain
though recluse, friendship need not wane
no need to dance, just clap, be sane
let’s walk together on the lane
