Only i know
this heart does not leap

smiles have to be conjured
to measure it up
with the world;

i have come to know
a herd of joys
has been waylaid;

i scanned a thousand times;
this body did not show

i could not find pain
except in my mind;

i stand on the verge
of a deep well;
and try hard to keep myself
from pieces tumbling into it;

fire, why you are hesitant
there is nothing now
are you so afraid
of hope-negative bones?

far away, in the deserts
of the mind in backwaters
i see kites flying;

but before i get over to them
the dream breaks;
and i fall into the deserts
of desolation and despair.
