Perhaps some are put off by not knowing what a cerement is. a shroud for the dead…made from “cerecloth”…fabric waterproofed with dripped-on wax or gummy matter to wrap a dead body in. Nowadays they use different ways of preserving the body. The Ghost of Christmas Future…in Charles Dickens’ “A CHRISTMAS CAROL” is often portrayed in a hooded shroud…that cerement. 🙂
