THE DEVIL’S DUES~by Author Lee O. McGee

THE DEVIL’S DUES

The writhing of the pain and the ecstasy
For the life that follows only mere desire
Seeking to quench a hunger and a thirst
Pure pleasure when finding its quest and its fire;
Thinking the world has righted at long last
Goes buoyantly about-
but a web has been cast.
Forgetting that living contains broken arrows
And man brings a grief in his own selfish way
Through resentment and greed and lustful wonting
He’ll murder his soul for that devil needs to be paid;
Complaining the world so cruelly now has been
Goes spitefully about-
but true fault lies within.
