‘The Deadly Dance’~by Mary Cecil

‘The Deadly Dance’

In veils of darkness
Where all light has receded
Shadows are dancing
A dance to the death

Grappling, gripping and grasping
Locked in their deadly embrace
Blows falling as they sway
Who’s winning, none can say

Man’s inhumanity to man
A melody to die for
A waltz divine
For those who know the steps

A music eternal
For those who intrude
The rewards are many
In the deadly interlude

Mountains of sorrow the price
Darkness in the heart of man
Slaying is the game, you see
Slaking the hunger, the plan

Pile those bodies high
They surely will advance
The cause they serve so slavishly
Hatred, the joyless romance

Bitter sweet these years
Civilisation all undone
The few who kill the most
Souls dying one by one
