OTHER BANK~by Indira Sadanandan

I was standing
On the bank
The river was singing
‘grl.. grl… grl… ‘
I wanted to cross
The currents
Stepped forward
My feet one by one ,
Under water
I was walking and
Couldn’t reach
And I felt the depth
In the middle
But you drifted
From your country
Wharf for me to get in
And reach ashore
There on the other bank
