LABYRINTH~by Samita Chattopadhyay

LABYRINTH

I was sitting on my couch
TV was talking –
Lonely talker!

All of a sudden
The anchor stretched her arm;
Her polished nails almost touched my nose!
She handed me a microphone;
She asked:
“Whom do you support?”

I was puzzled…

“YOU have to say…”

Her voice rattled me…

I looked here and there…
Why it was so dark?!
A smoky atmosphere!

Her strident voice tore the veil of smoke…
“Who is right?”

Suddenly I found them –
There were a few men and women…
They were talking and walking
As if it was a play…

I watched them for some time…
And it appeared that one group was feathering their own nest…

I tried to pay attention to the other group,
And just at that moment,
A young man clad in shabby dress
Went out of his pavilion
And took his gun and said:

“I will come back
If and only if
This world becomes a livable for all…”

He added:
“I know,
My State will look after my family…”

I was just raising my hand,
I was trying to point my finger at him,

When a few blew a gasket…

Cacophony
Tumult
Dissonance

#

I was snoozing
The TV was talking…..
