Poetry by Shi Ricks

I ALREADY KNEW
IN THE BEGINNING,
I THOUGHT I WAS WINNING.
HAD YOU CHANGED,
LIKE NO BODY’S BUSINESS.
SO I THOUGHT, YOUR LOVE WAS TRUE,
SILLY ME, I ALREADY KNEW.
SELFISH AN DIDN’T CARE, BUT ONLY ABOUT YOURSELF,
WHY WOULD I THINK, YOU WOULD LOVE SOMEONE ELSE.
THAT’S WHAT I GET, FOR TRYING TO CHANGE YOU,
ARGUING WITH PEOPLE, TILL, I TURNED BLUE.
SO I TAKE, THIS LESSON, IN STRIVE,
FOR A MISTAKE I MADE, THAT’S REALLY MINES.
NOW THAT IT’S OVER, I CAN’T BLAME YOU.
YOU WERE LIKE THAT FROM THE START,
I ALREADY KNEW.
