‘The Writer’s Craft’~by Mary Cecil

‘The Writer’s Craft’

Tell the story
Tell the dream
In every moment
And all between

The measured flow
With neat precision
What words to use
The indecision

The hesitation recedes
The mind is clear
Until at last
You lose your fear

You write and write
At fearsome pace
Before those thoughts
Have lost their place

The end is nigh
You’ve reached the end
And all to do
Is press the send

But wait a minute
You’ve lost the plot
Is it perfect
Or is it not

Back again and have a read
Posterity calls it must be right
Or you will never sleep
This endless night

The tortured thoughts
Begin again
To hell you say
And lift the pen
