outraced those Volstead
men gunning hot modified
engines up hills over thirsty
supply lines of speakeasy
civil rebellion against
arrogation of power by fiat
of moralists heedlessly
injuring liberty caught up
too much in their hauteur
to notice the widening lead
gangster moonshiners
gained as the public mind
turned for the hairpin that
led to the done-with-dry
finish line claiming their
trophy the cup of repeal
leaving all those engaged
newfound with a taste
for excitements of speed
