‘The ring of the Girona’~by Mary Cecil

‘The ring of the Girona’

Their is nothing more
I can possibly give to thee,
Inscribed the ring that speaks
Of a moment in two lifetimes

How warm the love
That lingers still,
And whispered through the ocean
In an emblem for eternity

Sweet memento to endure
Deep in the deepest depths,
A caress of a hand,
A kiss to remember forever

Mary Cecil
Written to bring to the attention this inscribed ring recovered from the Wreck of the Spanish Armada ship ‘Girona’ Which must have been worn by a sailor and given with love from his sweetheart, and now at the Ulster Museum.
