WITH EMPTY STOMACH~by Indira Sadanandan

WITH EMPTY STOMACH

I was being given
A life on earth on someone’s accord
With a hidden fire of hunger
Burning inside throughout,
Unbroken.
I saw a vessel ,turned upside down
Over certain food,covered with
Greedily I speeded up to get it and eat
But I couldn’t touch it
As against the sharp glistening brightness
Emitting from the vessel/
It was gold
But on touch, burn the fingers ,
With it’s fire tongue
I am wandering alone in the dark valleys of
Silence with my empty stomach.
