MY NAME~by Indira Sadanandan

MY NAME

My name is an adoption
Of a great name prevailed in the
Pre independent India as the ardent
Feeling of every Indian.
The name itself echoes a
Mystery of affection.
My aunt in her younger age
selected this for me to be called
There exists no mystery in my name.
My name is the last rhymes
In a soldier’s pipe.
It is a cold wave in a roaring sea,
A cuckoo’s song
Inviting the season of blossoms
