WHERE DID THEY GO~by John Patrick Boutilier

WHERE DID THEY GO

I had them not so long ago
But I don’t know where they are now
Where did they go
I’ve seen them with my own two eyes
Held them in my own two hands
Where did they go

I’ve felt them in this heart of mine
They truly were a part of me
Where did they go
I would give them all my time
I so enjoyed their company
Where did they go

They are hiding deep in me
I wish that I could set them free
Though I try as best I can
I’m as dry as desert sand

I know someday they will return
And when they do I’ll welcome them
Where did they go
Poets with no words to write
Are prize fighters without a fight
Where did they go

They are hiding deep in me
I wish that I could set them free
Though I try as best I can
I’m as dry as desert sand
