WET NIGHT ~ Isholaayodele Wasiu

WET NIGHT

The branches sway left and right,
And forward and backward.
It’s going to be a sleepless night,
The winds have striked the cord.

The full moon is trapped tonight,
Behind veils of dark clouds, it’s tossed.
It’s going to be a blind night,
For sky’s starry eyes are closed.

With the sword of storm, the sky’s given,
A bright branched tear of lightening.
The tearing sound from heaven,
Descends as thunder, frightening.

Torn sky shall soon weep,
Cold drops of tears as rain.
Hitting earth with strokes, deep.
From slivery canes, a pleasurable pain.

Tonight’ll be restless, noisy and wet.
This boiling oil of heat will cool,
My thick blanket, let me get,
Against coming shivers, a tool.

Composed by Ishola Abdulwasiu Ayodele.
