O rose ~by Shirley Macclean

O rose

you blush more than me
who can that not yet see
but you hide
a thorn or two
but for me that won’t do
you are the rose
we all love to be
a perfume
a fragrance till eternity
as I once thought
could myself be
a rose my dear rose
like thee

my trail of flames
will be followed by many
hope a rose like thee
would love to
many be
just rosy and free
and
signs of only glee
