Old Dan
Old Dan, he was a mountain man, his mule Luke and dog Pal tagged along.
Old Dan, he was a mountain man, he just seemed to ramble on.
Old Dan did what he could do to make the best out of life.
Everyone they loved him so, he made their faces bright.
He walked the valleys, he climb through snow.
There was no place that Dan wouldn’t go.
He would bring you happiness, he would heal the sick.
You can bet Old Dan knew every trick.
Old Dan, he was a mountain man, Luke and Pal tagged along.
Old Dan, he was a mountain man, he just seemed to ramble on.
Old Dan, he called the woods his home, that’s where he felt the best.
He rambled on day after day; you swear he would never rest.
He had eyes of steel and hands of stone.
One knew best to leave Old Dan alone.
He could be so gentle and show loving care.
But cross him once he would be a grizzly bear.
Old Dan, he was a mountain man, Luke and Pal tagged along.
Old Dan, he was a mountain man, he just seemed to ramble on.
Old Dan, he was a mountain man, knew the woods like the back of his hand.
Old Dan, he was a mountain man, he roamed all over the land.
He would walk the valleys and climb through snow.
There was no place that Old Dan wouldn’t go.
He would bring you happiness and heal the sick.
You can bet Old Dan knew every trick.
Old Dan, he was a mountain man, Luke and Pal tagged along.
Old Dan, he was a mountain man, he just seemed to ramble on.
And then one day the angels came and took Old Dan away.
Luke and Pal you will find them too, lying beside his grave.
And today you will hear people say, they saw Old Dan today.
They see Old Dan with Luke and Pal slowly rambles away.
You see Old Dan was never one for just laying around.
He has to ramble this old earth and six feet of dirt can’t hold him down.

Great poem Ron, I think it would make a good lyrics to a song.
