Futile Attempt~by Jenayah Hela Tekali

Futile Attempt

I spent my lifetime searching for my identity
Though that sounds a bit sense of futility
Am I that little girl dreaming to climb the mountains’high?
Am I that little kid dreaming to drink from the River of the Nile?

Life is such a harassing adventure for me
Having each time to stumble or even break my knee
All the Beauty and Truth I crave to describe in a similar vein
From the bottom of my heart with much toil and strain
Have turned into a mere illusion melt down in vain…
Is that searching for my identity inextricably coupled with insuperable ache and pain
with much an elusive nature pushing my heart to abstain

My ambition is doomed a futile dream
A bird with broken wings as it may seem
Shall I push my potential to the extreme?
or shall I leave my identity forever dumb with no voice, no noise,no scream
