MAYA~by Indira Sadanandan

In the sea
Waves rise up and set down
We witness the waves
That give us pleasure.
But the waves are not real
What is real,is the water
Knowledge is the sea and
The experiences of life therefrom
Make us live on earth
As fishes in the sea.
Knowledge is eternal.
We know the world with our senses
One who is deprived of his senses
Can never understand the world-
The life.
That which does not exist is ‘Maya’
Even if it doesn’t exist
The world came into being only
On its own accord.
The pot is made of mud
But in the mud there is no pot
There is the absence of the pot
In the earth.
‘Maya’ is akin to knowledge.
