Daily missive for Thursday the 23rd of April. Coffee shop sketches.~by Peter Forster

Daily missive for Thursday the 23rd of April.

Coffee shop sketches.

Things creep up
When least expected.
The change in momentum
A surprise,
To a system
Grown sluggish
From lack of invention.
A smile can turn
A face into the gates
Of paradise.
A single drop of rain,
Capturing the light,
As it rolls
Across the smooth
Velvet skin of a blood red rose,
Stealing the imagination,
From deep within a spray
Of a thousand other blooms,
Brings a finer focus
To the attention.
The sound of
A mother’s love,
Whispered gently
With a brush of lips
Across the bud like ear
Of a sweetly smelling child,
Softens the spew of noise.
The thrill, of new sounds

Pulls my mind
First one way,
And then the other
As new connections
Are made,
Stories to be told,
Whole histories created,
By my decree
Bring the world to
Some kind of order.
Perhaps then, when
Disparate objects
Fit together,
My heart sings
Its comfort
In the polish of rough diamonds.
How captivating,
When a single shaft of
Radiant sunlight
Bursts across a
Freshly washed window.
And in a moment,
That spans
Less than the
Echo of a single heartbeat,
The day begins.
