Back Home~by Lilian Dipasupil Kunimasa

Back Home

Early morning frenzy packing
Making sure we forget nothing
Things to bring and leave behind
Breakfast later if you don’t mind!

WOW! So many spots to clean up
Lost tiny toys they all just turn up
So glad the monster’s still asleep
Or there’d be war which ones to keep

Petrol and brakes for Dad to check
Heavy bags and baggages to deck
Don’t forget grandma’s soft pillow
Goodbyes to those we said hello

To the landlady say thank you
Promise to be back no adieu
The room for us she’ll keep free
And makopas picked from the tree

How to say goodbye to mountains?
And morning air fresh from night’s rains?
How to make peace with the monkey?
Only to males she smiles with glee!

Soon we’ll be back in the city
Day and night lively and pretty
But I’ll miss sweet makopa tree
How it says I Love You to me.
