‘Shadows’~by Mary Cecil

‘Shadows’

In the shadows of my mind
Your memory lingers
That existence that once was
A poignant echo that reverberates

And in the quiet times
Like a melody that drifts
A flame that burned and died
Would reflect in the mirrors of my soul

And merge like a tide
To fill my thoughts
And hold my heart hostage
Until gentle and softly you fade

And my world falls cold
And you leave as gently you came
A murmuring sweet music
That ripples through my life
