Ballooning~by Paul F. Lenzi

Ballooning

lifted on a flame
whooshing warmth
fills a gossamer skin
trees recede in the mist
of a gondola morning
arising with whispers of
burnishing breeze upon
dawn-gilded strokes
of a freshening sky

peaceful promises
drift among dreams
dispossessed cast
away on the air by
those unlucky ghosts
never knowing that
someday some genius
would learn how to fly

all those free-sailing
once conceived
thoughts and ideas
soar now close to the
touch within reach
of new minds
near enough
for new breathing

a genteel excursion
this soft wingless flight
bringing time and space
into perspective
a rare understanding
uniquely obtained
by the view through
the notional oculus
sweet-set at zenith
atop this encompassing
airy invisible dome
of telluric experience
