THE HONEY-HIVE~by Rajendra Padhi

The flowers have started blooming in morn
In their plumy branches petals are soft,
The roses, hyacinths, marigold many more
Faces with sweetness of a child beam
All are beautiful though in names differ.

O! Some flowers bloom nameless in hills
The sun smiles on every one who lives,
I ask the alien flowers “Do you have names?”
They said, “No, in the honey-hive all lose names
But is sweet whose worth world adores”.

I thank bees who have eyes equal to see
Sip honey from all in loving kisses on lips,
Stray birds come to whisper in their ears
Nameless tunes of songs but sweet to hear
Let me see and listen a gift rare of love.

We find that we are dear to each other
Nameless strangers once like flowers of hills,
Find our hearts a home of sweet harmony
We will drop our petals like blossoms of eve
Leave behind honey though unnamed to depart.
