see him now
under the sun
on the sea
lift his hand
in a blessing
as you sail
away without
saying a word

see him now
wishing you
well with no
tear in his eye
wanting joy for
your journey
no hurt in
his heart

see him now
unafraid of
his loneliness
hoping you
find what he
never did quite
figure out how
to give you

see him now
happy to know
you are happy
for leaving as
he turns for land
and for home
your love left
to illusion
