MEN AND WOMEN~by Rajendra Padhi

MEN AND WOMEN

We were sighing strangers scowling grimly in caves
Big monkeys in dark skin erotic, unashamed in face
Sitting naked sapping our love glowing fast in sun’s rays
The birth of a race waited in unknown pathways.

I stand in a trance of a time flapping wings fast
I turn my eyes for vestal virgins dancing on ziggurat,
Their eyes bore an instruction of love in each glance
Men sank into their flesh on the bank of Euphrates.

The exotic woman bedecked in jewels of gold
The queen of Sheba of Arabian desert came a long way
Her beckoning lips flowered in kisses of King Solomon
Love mitigated the East and the West for new horizons.

I retrieve the magic moments in the noises of streets
Loving each faces for bringing such chasm and heights,
Each of us like bee contributed for the nectar in the hive
The astral water of thought flowing is our child of love.

We have come time and again from the realm of stars
Changing each rock-perched town into pure gold,
Our wisdom like ripening fruits suffused with nectar
Whenever we come together we change the world.
