If God Is a Poetry Editor~by Lilian Dipasupil Kunimasa

If God Is a Poetry Editor

how does one tell God
not to do so much editing
in one’s poem?

a poet writes about the universe yet
the Editor keeps moving the stars

a poet forms the milky way
yet the Editor keeps changing the trail

a poet forms the earth
yet the Editor keeps remolding the image

a poet composes a story rhyme
yet the Editor keeps revising the plot

many times a poet loses ground
when the Editor is around

still the best Editor is one
who the poet with love surrounds

inspired by David Thane Cornell’s ” God As Poetry Editor”
